How do you prefer to take in your books? Digital or paper?

The watery events of the past few weeks have left me wondering, which is better? As a reader pointed out, one of these is much less vulnerable to fire and flood.

I admit, the majority of my book consumption is done via audio these days, busy father and small business owner that I am. But when I make the time to focus my full attention on reading, nothing beats the tactile sensation of holding a physical book and turning pages. And don’t even get me started on the smell.

That said, I’ve developed an appreciation for digital of late, especially when traveling. No more having to decide which book or two I want to bring and trying to find a way to cram those bricks into my suitcase (looking at you, Brandon Sanderson).

I think we can all agree that it’s best to have options, though. So that one can make the decision oneself based upon the needs of the moment. Which is why, whenever I run a Kickstarter, I’m make sure to cram it full of digital comics.

Bad Times

So I’ve been bad. 

I haven’t been as diligent about promoting the Impure Blood 15th Anniversary Book Box Kickstarter as I usually am with my campaigns.

The reason? Well, I’ve been dealing with a little something. 

I discovered water damage in the area of my basement where I store my stock of books that I’ve Kickstarted. Seems all the rain we’ve had here in Minnesota has finally caught up to me. As a result, some of the books I have on hand have been damaged.

While I am please to report that the overwhelming majority of my stock has survived unscathed, I’m still working on quantifying the total damage. Anyone with home repair experience will no doubt recognized that the carpet will need to come out and the dry wall patched.

So you can see how I’ve had my eye on other things.

That said, nine days remain on the 15th Anniversary of Impure Blood Kickstarter, and it’s now more important than ever that we get this project funded!

Come hell or high water, (poor choice of words, perhaps) I am going to spend the remainder of this Kickstarter giving both it and the thousands of Impure Blood readers the attention they deserve.

As I have always said, I cannot do what I do without you.

Well, it was a great start to the campaign and %66 funded in the first day is nothing to be ashamed of. Unfortunately, we did fall short of reaching our goal in the first 24 hours in order to earn the signed cover art mini print… 😔

Ahhh…! Who am I kidding? I just like giving my backers as many bonuses as I can. Everyone will still get the mini print. We still need to cross the finish line, though. None of this happens if we don’t get there! 

What’s more, all backers will be receiving this bonus Bundle of Steampunk/Fantasy digital comics!
